Stick format is hard to get coverage

Received as a gift outside Try and Review
I’ve tried it on our family beach days out but the stick format makes it hard to tell whether we have applied enough. Even though I thought I had applied properly on my husband’s back, by the end of our beach day, I could see areas where there wasn’t enough sunscreen on which means it was red and patchy. Would rather use the lotion version instead.
